ARCH3610FALL2015ASSIGNMENT10

In this collage I try to represent what's my program about. The books represent that its a educational facility (University of environment science). The tree in the glass sphere shows that it involves the environment. The glass sphere also represents a greenhouse which I'm planning in incorporating in the facility.

  1. Cheerful thoughts!
I don't know about the wind turbines in the city, that is a bit dangerous but the rest of it is great :)

    1. Thank you so much for all your comments they are very helpfull. I agree about the wind turbines i will be fixing that later today.

  2. There are a multiplicity of types of wind turbine, a compulsory element in major projects in London.

    2. I agree, but I am not sure that Deny has enough time to explore the complexity of turbines at this moment and for this assignment.

      Some facts:
To make the turbines full functional you need CONSTANT wind (above 6-7km/h) with not too many changes in its speed nor direction; carefully choose the design of the turbine; in urban areas you need to think how to level down the noise from the turbine; during cold winter an ice can be created on the blades that is dangerous during the start up of the turbine; wind behind the turbine is extremely important because the radius of the exit wind after it passes the turbine is 3 times bigger than it was in front of the turbine; you need to have exact height of the structure and also the exact foundation for it because you do not want to have your turbine ripped out from the ground in case of extreme wind conditions. Not every design can make enough energy for the consumers and not every structure can stand up the vibrations from the turbine.
I am saying all of this from my personal experience with the project with wind turbines in urban area.

So, please I am not arguing and voting against it, I am just saying that it is too complex and it needs to be carefully calculated and applied so that at the end all 3 segments of sustainability (economy, society, environment) can have benefits from it instead of inefficient, expensive, unused structure in the middle of the NYC

  3. Mima, very true, particularly the vibration (and noise thing), however, if a riverside site and channelled airflow from tall buildings, it could be interesting.

    1. Yes, but unfortunately Deny doesn't have the predominate wind diagram and shadows diagram in his urban analysis.
*correction: above 6-7m/s constant speed of the wind

  4. I'm very interested to see your greenhouse develop, particular the concept planning and treatment of the root balls of plants small and big. As above so below.
